Blooming Gel Art for a Perfect Spring Manicure!

November 16, 2023

As spring approaches, it’s time to make your nails bloom! Blooming gel nail art allows for strokes of colors on your nails to create a blossoming or blurring effect that truly allows your nails to bloom. The technique is simpler than you might believe, yet it creates such complex, mesmerizing designs.

With the blooming effect, there are so many trending nail designs you can create other than flowers such as snakeskin, tortoise skin, butterflies, marbling, aura nails, and many more. The possibilities are endless with blooming gel nail art. This tutorial will show you how to create floral designs with a few simple steps.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

The key to this technique is our Lechat Gel Powder Base. This specific basecoat will allow you to create the blooming effect. Gather a nail file, buffer, Perfect Match Prime Bond Nail Dehydrator, Perfect Match Gel Base Coat, and No Wipe Top Coat. For your design, choose a base color and two CM Gel Art colors. We are using Perfect Match “Flawless White” Gel Polish as the base color, and “Hot Orange” and “Sunflower Yellow” CM Gel Art for the floral designs.

Step 2: Prep Your Nails

Start by prepping your nails by pushing back the cuticles and file to desired shape. Buff your nails and remove any dust with gel cleanser. Apply Primebond Nail Dehydrator for enhanced adhesion and Perfect Match Gel Base Coat (with Calcium & Vitamin E) to maintain strong and healthy natural nails. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step 3: Apply Base Color

Apply two layers of “Flawless White” gel polish or any color of your choice. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step 4: Apply Lechat Gel Powder Base

Apply a thin layer of Gel Powder Base and do not cure.

Step 5: Create the Pedals

Using “Hot Orange” CM Gel Art, gently add a small drop of gel on the left corner of the nail and drag to the center. During this step, make sure to gently press the brush over the GPB layer and not apply too much pressure. Use this motion to create the other peddles, dragging the gel to the center of the flower. As you paint the pedals, the gel colors will start to spread and bloom. Repeat this step to create more flowers on the nail.

Step 6: Add Accent Designs

Take “Sunflower Yellow” and add small drops at the center of each flower. Place additional drops throughout the nail to finish up your design. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step 7: Seal with Lechat No Wipe Top Coat

Apply a thin layer of Lechat No Wipe Top Coat and cure for 60 seconds.

Blooming gel nail art is versatile and fairly easy to execute. Using Gel Powder Base and adding droplets of gel color, all you must do is let the colors bloom. Now your nails are ready for spring!
