This bold and glamorous nail design is perfect for embracing the spirit of the Lunar New Year while showcasing intricate details that reflect the snake’s unique scales and graceful form. Learn how to recreate this eye-catching look step by step!
Start with a base coat of our solar flare gel, Spectra 02, Cosmic Rays, and cure for 1 minute.
Apply a coat of Gel Powder Base, and while it is still wet, use Perfect Match Pro 001, Sweet Cherry Red with a fine lining brush to create a blooming scale pattern down the middle. Fill in the scales on either side to form a stunning snake skin effect, then cure.
Using translucent Perception Gel in Black Ice and a fine lining brush, add shadows to each scale for added dimension. Cure, then seal with a glossy no-wipe top coat.
Apply thicker drops of top coat over each scale to give them a 3D effect, then cure again.
To create the snake’s head, use Perfect Match Liquid Gel Builders (now available in new shades) to build up the shape, curing between layers to achieve the desired height and dimension.
Paint the snake head with Spectra 02, Cosmic Rays, and repeat the marbling process to add detailed, smaller scales.
Finally, use Perfect Match Pro’s 030 Black Velvet Gown, on a fine art brush to add the finishing touches, such as the snake’s eyes and tongue. Seal the entire design with a thin layer of glossy no-wipe top coat and give it a final cure.
